LYNNFIELD The first time the Lynnfield High field hockey team faced rival North Reading back on Sept. 9, the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

The rematch took place on a cool fall day on Monday afternoon at Lynnfield High and the Pioneers were able to edge the visiting Hornets 3-2.

With that win, the Pioneers improved to 7-3-4 overall and 6-3-3 in the Cape Ann League. They are in third place in the Cape Ann League Kinney Division behind Pentucket and Triton.

North Reading fell to 5-7-1 overall and 3-7-1 in the CAL.

On Oct. 14, the Pioneers tied host Triton 1-1 in Byfield. Lynnfield went 0-1-1 against the Vikings as Triton won the first match-up 2-0 on Sept. 14 in Lynnfield.

The next game for LHS is Oct. 22 as they welcome Manchester-Essex at 3:45 p.m.

The next morning they host Andover in non-league action with that contest starting at 10 a.m.

On Oct. 25, Lynnfield hosts Danvers at 4:15 p.m. in their final non-league game of the year. They then wrap up the regular season on Oct. 26 as they host Pentucket at 7 p.m.

The Sachems won the first meeting 4-0 at home on Sept. 28 as Lynnfield looks for the season split.
