BOSTON — Two members of the Lynnfield High girls indoor track and field team participated in the Distance Classic at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Dec. 28 during the holiday break. Freshman Gabby Buttaro competed in the mile while junior Maddie Daigle raced in the two mile.

Daigle qualified for the states as she had a time of 12:33 in the two mile. She finished in 10th place out of 18 competitors.

“That was an excellent time for her,” said Pioneers head coach Adam Dell’Aria. “She qualified by nearly a minute.”

Buttaro was 46th out of 60 total runners with a time of 6:17.

“That was Gabby’s first race,” explained Dell’Aria. “It was an impressive time for her first showing.”

The next event for the Pioneers (1-2) will be the Freshman-Sophomore Meet on Jan. 8 back at the Reggie Lewis Center.

That event will start at 10 a.m.

Lynnfield’s next dual meet will take place on Jan. 12 as they take on North Reading back at the Reggie Lewis Center at 5:30 p.m.
