Enjoyed restoring homes and interior design

SAUGUS — Carole F. (Cutillo) Hammersley, 85, of Saugus died on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 at her residence.

She was born in Boston on August 24, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Antoinette (D’Ortona) Cutillo.

Carole was raised in Malden and educated in the Malden Public School System. She enjoyed buying homes and restoring them, interior design and spending time with her family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Richard D. Hammersley. She was the loving mother of Richard Hammersley Jr. and his wife Theresa of Dedham; Alan Hammersley and his wife Lisa of Lynnfield; and Darlene Hammersley-Bayer of Nyack, New York. Carole was the sister of June Gentile and Norma Bromley, both of Florida, and the late Theresa Mazzarello. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Evan, Jeffrey, Kelsey, Kaylee, and Jackson.

Carole’s funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday at Our Lady of Assumption Church, corner of Grove and Salem Streets, Lynnfield. Visitation for relatives and friends was held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday prior to the funeral. Interment took place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield.
