Avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed traveling, the jitterbug and playing tennis
WAKEFIELD — Dr. A. Louis Giamarco, 90, a beloved father and longtime resident of Wakefield, peacefully passed on August 30, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Dr. Giamarco was born in Milford to Atillio L. Giamarco and Phylis E. Buscone. He attended Milford High School, then went on to graduate from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. After MCP, he attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he met his wife, Frances Giamarco, to whom he was married and devoted to for 62 years. From there, he graduated Tufts University with a degree in Pediatric Dentistry, a profession he practiced for over 40 years.
Dr. Giamarco enjoyed helping others and served on the Wakefield Board of Health. He also held free sessions at the Wakefield Public Library, where he counseled high school teenagers on college and career choices. Dr. Giamarco was a beloved Little League announcer for the town of Lynnfield for seven years, a “job” which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a quintessential avid Red Sox fan and attended many games at Fenway Park in the 600 Club. He was a devout Christian and attended weekly services at St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston.
He enjoyed traveling internationally and visited many countries with his wife, including China, the Soviet Union, Europe and an annual trip to Aruba. One of his greatest joys was being a grandfather to his three grandchildren. He also loved dancing the jitterbug, singing Karaoke and playing tennis.
He is survived by his two children: Matteo and Melanie; his three grandchildren Isabella, Abrianna and Luca. Dr. Giamarco was a courageous, intelligent, mentoring, caring Dad who will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. May he forever rest in Peace with his beloved wife, Frances.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
