Accountant loved spending time with family, traveling

LYNNFIELD — Ellen M. Craffey passed away suddenly on Feb. 2, 2022.

She was born in Boston, and she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Helen Stanton.

Ellen is survived by her two sons: Michael and his wife, Sheila, of Lynnfield; and Steven and his wife, Rachel, of California. She was the brother of Thomas and his wife, Jaqueline, of Milton; and Robert and his wife, Carol, of Easton. Five devoted and cherished grandchildren also survive Ellen: Carleen and her fiancé Harrison MacDonald of Windham New Hampshire; Curtis and his fiancé Emily Briere of Lynnfield; Neil of Lynnfield; James of the U.S. Air Force who is currently stationed in Germany; and Sean of Boston. She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

Ellen’s siblings Jean Monahan, James Stanton, Nancy Flynn and Michael Stanton predeceased her.

After raising her sons, Ellen returned to school to receive her degree in Accounting from Merrimack College. Ellen worked at Koche Membrane in Wilmington as a senior accountant until her retirement in 2002. She also worked as a senior tax advisor during tax season at H&R Block in Stoneham for 33 years. She then continued to work as an account for Lynnfield nonprofit L.I.F.E. Inc.

Ellen loved to travel and enjoyed visiting many destinations worldwide. She read four newspapers daily, kept up with technology, loved her family and friends, and will be missed greatly by her customers who she enjoyed helping.

Ellen’s services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 from 10-11 a.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, which will be followed by interment at Forest Hills Cemetery, Lynnfield. Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you take a friend to lunch.
