COLORADO — Florence (Sally) C. (Mackey) Hammerbeck, 96, passed away on April 6, 2020 one week before her 97th birthday.

Sally was a resident of Sunrise Assisted Living of Colorado.

She was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on April 13, 1923 to the late Arthur and Florence (Frank) Mackey.

Sally and her late husband Wallace (Wally) were married on April 29, 1943, sharing 59 years of marriage before his passing in 2002.

They resided in Lynnfield for many years prior to retiring to Florida in 1982. Prior to living in Lynnfield, she lived in Bogota, Columbia and Erie, Penn.

Sally moved out to Denver, Colorado in 2015.

Sally had many hobbies including needlepoint, crossword puzzles, painting and crafts. She was an avid bridge player and loved playing many card games. Sally was wonderful homemaker, cook and seamstress and loved gardening. She was very fond of her pets, Impy, Tigger and Mittens.

Sally was quite the golfer in her younger years and won many trophies. She was a member of the Thomson Club in North Reading, where she was the club champion in 1969 and 1970.

She also belonged to the Seven Rivers Golf Club in Crystal River, Florida, where she was also involved with several committees. When the club was renovated, she was a very active member of the decorating committee. She was also a member of the Red Hats of Crystal River.

Sally is survived by two sons: John and his wife Claire of Colorado; and Keith and his wife Diane of Lynnfield. She is also survived by a daughter Kathy and her husband Richard (Rick) Sport of Lynn.

Three grandsons survive Sally: Mark Hammerbeck and his wife Maria and daughters Stephanie and Valerie; Eric Hammerbeck; and Jason Sport and his wife Tanja and their two children, Miles and Kai. One granddaughter, Stacey Sport, also survives her.

Sally’s husband Wally and her son Eric predeceased her.
