Beloved mentor to many Lynnfield students

PEABODY — Michele M. (Donovan) Annino 75, the beloved wife of Charles W. Annino, died on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Alpheus and Mildred (McElaney) Donovan. She was raised in Winthrop and graduated from Fitton Catholic High School in East Boston.

Mrs. Annino worked for 30 years at Lynnfield High School until her retirement in 2011. Thereafter, she continued to work as a substitute teacher at the school. She was a beloved mentor to many hundreds of Lynnfield students over the years. As a young woman, Michele worked for eight years at United Shoe Machinery Corp. at its headquarters in Boston.

Dedicated to her family, Mrs. Annino enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends and tending to her garden in Peabody.

In addition to her husband, with whom she shared 51 years, she is survived by her two brothers: Kevin Donovan and his wife Linda of Amherst, Ohio; and Joseph X. Donovan and his wife Raya of Newton. She is also survived by a sister, Denise Foley and her husband Joseph of Peabody. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Kelley, Kristen, Sam, Ava, Deirdre, Declan, Brian, Paul and Carolyn. She is also survived by many cousins, including Diane Lamonica and her husband James of Topsfield. She was also the aunt of the late Kimberly Donovan.

Michele’s funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., West Peabody, on Saturday, Nov. 9. Relatives and friends were invited to attend. Visiting hours took place at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, on Friday, Nov. 8. Burial took place in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in West Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to www.giving.massgeneral.org toward the Bernice Hamlin Fund or the Nursing Staff at Lunder 10 Cancer Care Unit.
