MELROSE — Richard D. “Dick” Metcalf, 80, passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on December 22, 2017.

Dick was born in Somerville, raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1955. Mr. Metcalf lived in Everett and Malden for many years and in Stoneham the past 15years.

He worked as a metal spinner at Metal Spinner Company in Malden for over 25 years making parts for jet engines. Dick was a competitive bowler and enjoyed playing in several bowling leagues through the years. He was a dedicated Everett football fan and loved watching the New England Patriots. Dick enjoyed taking trips with his wife Frances to Waterville Valley and Moultonborough in New Hampshire and spending time on White Horse Beach in Plymouth. Dick cherished the times spent with his grandchildren.

Mr. Metcalf was the beloved husband of 61 years to Frances (Morley) Metcalf. Loving father of Richard Metcalf Jr. and his wife Darlene of Fla., Michael Metcalf and his wife Laurie of Lynnfield, Cathy Haskell of Malden and Paul Metcalf of Stoneham. Cherished grandfather of Candi Schindler of S.C., Richard Metcalf of Fla., Ashley Haskell of Conn., and James Haskell of Malden. Caring brother of Bruce Metcalf of Peabody, Marybeth Dupois of Templeton and the late Wayne Metcalf.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tuesday, January 2, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
