CHESTNUT HILL — Susan Yenkin Leffler, 76, of Chestnut Hill, formerly of Lynnfield, and originally Columbus, Ohio, died peacefully at her home on Oct. 15, 2021, surrounded by her husband and three children.

She was the beloved wife of Alan Leffler, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. She was the devoted and proud mother of Daniel Leffler and his wife, Nai, of Newton; Jessica Leffler and her husband, David, of Jamaica Plain; and Joshua Leffler and his wife, Maggie, of Beacon Hill. She was the loving grandmother of Ryn, Vayla, Wolfy, Ozzie, Winston, Ottilie and Bingham.

In addition to her deep love and dedication to her family, Susan always sought to better her community. After college, Susan was a teacher in the Boston Public Schools in Roxbury. Later she served as the Director of the Lynnfield Community Schools. Even in death, her self-directed donation of brain tissue to the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center highlights the generosity of love, wisdom, spirit, and grace that has lifted us all.

Sincere appreciation to Care Dimensions Hospice of Danvers and to Marcie Halpin.

Private graveside services were held at the Or Emet Cemetery in West Roxbury on Oct. 18, 2021.
