LYNNFIELD — William “Randy” Popp, Jr., 87, of Lynnfield, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Saugus on October 12, 1930, he was the son of the late William R. and Florence (Dixon) Popp.

Randy was a graduate of Saugus High School, Class of 1948. Randy enjoyed all sports and was the first goaltender for Saugus High School. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He had retired from Global Oil as a marine terminal operator in Revere.

Randy was the husband of the late Eleanor G. (Cannon) Popp. He is survived by his four sons: Randy Popp and his wife Patti of Peabody; Ronald Popp and his wife Sandra of Tewksbury; Bryon Popp and his wife Margaret of Newbury; and Stephen Popp and his wife Kerri of Derry, New Hampshire. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Smith, of Virginia. Additionally, he is survived by 10 grandchildren: Heather, Randy, Melissa, Ron, Bryon, Lydia, Melody, Caitlyn, Cassandra and Crystal. He was predeceased by his sister, Janice Howland.
