NORTH READING — Ned Madden won the Hillview Country Club Golf Championship on Sunday, Aug. 2. Madden played in the final foursome with Rich Mayo, Dennis Rolffs and the returning champion, Tyler Currie. He shot the lowest score of the tournament with a 71 on Sunday. Ned chipped in from 20 feet and out of the rough on the 18th hole to seal the deal.

Madden graduated from North Reading High School in 2014 and is a sophomore at the University of South Carolina. He did not make the high school golf team in either his freshman year or his sophomore year. He made the top eight in his junior season and was selected as a Cape Ann League All-Star his senior year. Madden has worked at Hillview the past four years and owes a debt of gratitude to Hillview Pro, Chris Carter for all of his support and instruction.
