WAKEFIELD — A juvenile will be summonsed to court after he allegedly struck a man in the face just before 6 p.m. yesterday.

Officer Kyle Meehan was on bicycle patrol on Main Street when he was flagged down by a woman who stated that a man had just been assaulted. Meehan located the man sitting on the ground and clutching his nose. He said that he had been riding his bike when the younger man struck him in the face. The juvenile stated that he believed the man was following him but police said that the attack may have been unprovoked.

Just after 6 p.m. yesterday, a caller reported a man wearing tan pants and a red and black polo shirt had been walking in the area of Plymouth Road for several hours. The man was gone upon arrival of police but neighbors told officers that they believed it had been a Verizon worker.

At about 7:40 p.m., a caller reported a solicitor in the Montrose area, described as a black male wearing a button-down shirt and khaki pants. Police located the solicitor who agreed to cease activity for the evening. He was advised of the the requirement to register with the Police department before engaging in door-to-door sales.

Police report that the investigation into Thursday’s armed robbery at S&M Liquors on Water Street is ongoing. A white man carrying what appeared to be a rifle held up the store just after 9 p.m. and escaped in an unknown direction.  Detectives have been reviewing security cameras at area businesses to see if the suspect can be seen on video.

The Fire Department responded to six calls yesterday, four of which were for medical aid.

Firefighters went to Route 128 northbound at about 3 p.m. after a three-car accident near exit 41. One driver was transported by ambulance to Lahey Clinic. The Fire Department stood by until cleared by State Police.

Another highway accident at about 4:30 p.m. drew Fire Department response to Route 128 northbound between exits 42 and 43. One person was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
