WAKEFIELD – A 30-year-old Chelsea man will be summonsed to court for driving without a license after being stopped on Water Street late last night. Police said that Officer Brett Rossicone was traveling north on Foster Street when he noticed a Honda parked on the side of the road and recognized the driver as someone who did not have a valid driver’s license. Rossicone was able to stop the Honda on Water Street and issued the citation.

A driver was issued a citation for failure to yield after a two-car crash at North Avenue and Main Street just before 9 p.m. last night. Police said that a 2009 Huyndai Santa Fe was heading north on Main Street and was taking a left onto North Avenue on a green light. At the same time, a 2007 Honda heading south on Main Street was at a red light and made a right turn on to North Avenue, resulting in the collision. The driver of the Honda was issued the citation.

The Fire Department responded to 16 calls yesterday, eight of which were for medical aid.
At 3:15 p.m. Ladder 1 was dispatched to Stoneham for mutual aid.
At 4 p.m. firefighters went to a Hillcrest Avenue home to check on a fire alarm system malfunction.

At about 6 p.m., the Fire department was called to Exit 40 on Route 128 for a minor three-car crash. There were no injuries.

At 8:20 p.m. firefighters dealt with a minor water leak on the Police side of the Public Safety Building.

At 8:30 p.m. the Fire Department went to an Albion Street address to check on an outside odor of gas. The Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department also responded but nothing major was found.
