MELROSE — Margaret E. (Harrington) Blake, a 46-year resident of Melrose and formerly of Medford, entered into eternal life suddenly on Tuesday June 2, at her home in Melrose. She was 91 years old.
Margaret was born in Medford on March 10, 1924, a daughter of the late William D. and Ann E. (Raeke) Harrington. She grew up in Medford where she attended St. Joseph Parochial School and graduated from Medford High School in 1942. Following high school, Margaret attended nursing school at Cambridge City Hospital and became a registered nurse where she worked her entire career in the nursing profession and retired from Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford in 1988 after 20 years of dedicated service to the hospital.
Margaret was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church’s Women’s Guild.
Margaret was the devoted wife of the late James L. Blake. She was the beloved sister of the late Patricia Hirschfeld, Edmund Harrington, Robert Harrington and William Harrington. Margaret is survived by her sister-in-law Mary Harrington and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends were invited to Margaret’s visiting hour on Saturday, June 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St., Melrose followed by her funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 11 a.m. Burial was private.
