LYNNFIELD — Margaret Patricia “Patsy” McCusker, 78, of Lynnfield, passed from this Earthly life suddenly at 11:35 a.m. on Feb. 7, 2016 at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington.
Patsy was born in Killarney, Ireland on Jan. 25, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Patrick “Paddy” and Mary (Coleman) “Maime” Healy.
She attended school in the Catholic school system and aspired to be a nun, so she could be a teacher. She left Ireland in 1957 for England, where she realized her dream of becoming a teacher, without becoming a nun. In 1959, she emigrated to the United States and met Patrick H. McCusker at a dance at the Irish Social Club. They were married on Sept. 10, 1960. They raised their adopted daughter with love, a strong work ethic, a thirst for knowledge and a sense of adventure.
In Patsy’s later years, she was active in many community activities including being a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church and participating in Mah-Jong games and others at the Lynnfield Senior Center.
She was the beloved wife of Patrick H. McCusker of Lynnfield. She was the adored mother of Lisa A. McCusker of Andover. She is also survived by many beloved cousins and a large extended family in both Ireland and the U.S., many friends and her grand-pets, which she loved.
Her funeral was held from McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, Feb. 11, followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield. A visitation for relatives and friends was held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
In lieu of flowers, Patsy’s family would prefer donations to be made in her name to: Our Lady of the Assumption Church Charitable Foundation, 40 Grove St., Lynnfield MA 01940.
