Retired teacher with local survivors

MALDEN — Marie T. Mayne, of Malden passed away March 21. She wasthe beloved wife of the late Thomas E. Mayne and the mother of Bernard Mayne and his wife Lorraine of North Reading, Peter Mayne and his wife Janet of Wakefield, Rosemary Curtis and her husband Brad of Vernonia, OR, Thomas E. Mayne Jr. and his wife Donna Szekely of Hampstead, NH and Laura Mayne of Medford. She was the grandmother of Nicole, Stephanie, Hilary, Axel, Emily, Valerie, Christopher, Haley and Alexis and the great–grandmother of Grace and Thomas.

Marie was the sister of Helen Quinn of Woburn, Janet Sullivan and her husband Richard of Woburn and the late Joan Conway. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Marie was a resident of Malden for most of her life. She was a graduate of Girls Catholic High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree at Emmanuel College. She was a school teacher for the City of Malden for many years. She was a member of Zonta in Malden and also the “Holy 21” at Emmanuel College.

Her funeral was from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday March 31, followed by a funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden. Services concluded with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Children’s Defense Fund, 25 E Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20001. www.childrensdefense.org.
