WAKEFIELD – Marion E. (Ross) Perry, 91, longtime resident of Wakefield, died on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington.
Born on September 30, 1928, in Medford, Marion was one of two children of the late Kenneth and Esther (Tamlyn) Ross. She grew up in Melrose graduating from Melrose High School in 1946.
She met and later married the late Clifton Perry, and they settled in Wakefield to raise their family.
Faith and family best describe Marion. She was devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking and having family get togethers. She and Clifton traveled around the country camping with their family, with her favorite place being New Hampshire. They also traveled to Europe and different National Parks throughout the country.
A caregiver at heart, Marion cared for numerous relatives over the years as they got older. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, gardening, and working in her yard.
Marion showed the same devotion for her church that she showed to her family and friends. She taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Wakefield for many years and served on numerous committees and boards.
Marion’s kindness, warmth, and love will be missed by her family, but they take comfort in knowing she is where she wants to be, and that is with her beloved Clifton.
Marion is the beloved wife of the late Clifton A. Perry with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Cynthia A. “Cindy” Grady and her husband Michael of Natick, and the late Ronald G. Perry. Dear sister of the late Kenneth W. Ross, Jr. Cherished grandmother of Mary Celli of North Andover, Colleen Andreotes of Natick, Megan Grady of Groton, and Patrick Grady of Framingham. She is also survived by five great-grandsons.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
