Longtime teacher at Huckleberry Hill

LYNN — Marjorie Louise Needham, 93, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 at a local nursing home after a long illness. She was born and raised in Lynn, the daughter of the late George and Laura (Murray) Needham.

Marjorie was valedictorian of her graduating class at Lynn Classical High School. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Boston University and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Her career as an educator spanned 45 years, the majority of which was spent at the Huckleberry Hill School in Lynnfield.

Marjorie was an avid reader who traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She was a member of the National Education Foundation, the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Eastern Star.

She is survived by many cousins.

A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rte. 129) in Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private. A visitation period will be held at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
