YORK, Maine — Martha Ellen (Burgess) Foley, 73, of York, Maine died at her residence on August 4.
Martha was born in Melrose on March 30, 1944 and was the daughter of the late John W. and Alice M. (Reynolds) Burgess.
Martha was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1962, and was a longtime resident of Wakefield before moving full-time to York, Maine in 2009 so she could enjoy the beach year round.
She was a hairdresser at Sal’s Hair Salon in Lynn and had worked at Hogan Regional Healthcare in Danvers. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and walking Long Sands Beach in York.
Martha was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Foley. She was the loving mother of Paul J. Pronco and wife Susan of Wakefield, Mark R. Pronco of York, ME., Tara Surabian of Stoneham, Eric B. Pronco of York, ME., Beth Currier and husband Sean of Wells, ME. She was the stepmother of Robert Foley Jr. of Gloucester and Caitlin Sumner and husband Brook of Gloucester. She was the sister of Evelyn Ring of York, ME., John “Buddy” Burgess and wife Carol of Sanford, NC, Ann Encarnacao of Andover, and Janet Burgess of Limington, ME. She was the loving grandmother of Devin, Stephanie, Erica, Courtney, Evan, and Reid. She is also survived by 6 step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the Forest Glade Cemetery, Lowell St., Wakefield on Thursday at 11 a.m.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday, Aug. 9 from 4-8 p.m.
