NEWPORT, R.I. — Lynnfield native Patrick W. Martin graduated from the United States Navy Officer Candidate School (OCS) on Friday, Jan. 6.
Martin, of Thomas Road, was one of 71 graduates in Class 04-17 to successfully complete the demanding 12-week OCS at the Newport Naval Station. The OCS course is designed to give candidates working knowledge of the Navy, both afloat and ashore, to prepare them to assume the responsibilities of a Naval officer. OCS is extremely demanding morally, mentally and physically as candidates are challenged to live up to the highest standards of the core values of honor, courage and commitment.
Martin was commissioned as Ensign with the U.S. Navy as a naval aviator. His first duty station will be at the Flight Indoctrination School at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla.
A 2016 graduate of Norwich University and 2012 graduate of Malden Catholic High School, Ensign Martin is the son of Peter Martin and Kimberly Martin.
