Borstelobit-webWAKEFIELD — Mary T. Borstell, 91, of Wakefield died on Saturday, March 4 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Boston on August 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Mary J. (Lynch) Farquharson

Mrs. Borstell was a graduate of St. Patrick Parochial School in Roxbury. She had been a Wakefield resident since 1960 and was a former member of St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield. Mrs. Borstell was a retired receptionist for the former Crest Buick in Woburn. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting and reading.

Mrs. Borstell was the wife of the late George R. Borstell. She is survived by her two daughters: Janet Larivee of Arlington and Joanne Borstell of Lexington; and her son George “Jeff” Borstell of Andover. Since is also survived by her three grandchildren; Laurel Yonika, Brooke Borstell and Jeffrey Borstell. She is also survived by her two great grandchildren, Noah Grucyz and Grace Borstell-Koratkin.

She was the sister of Dorothy Farquharson of Dorchester and Donald Farquharson of Bridgewater. Mrs. Borstell was predeceased by her grandson Matthew Yonika, her sister Agnes J. Smith and her two brothers, Robert Farquharson and Joseph Farquharson.

Her funeral was held at the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Monday, March 13, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham. Visitation for relatives and friends was held at the Funeral Home Sunday, March 12. Interment took place at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
