MELROSE – Mary E. (Maloney) Boyden, 90, of Melrose, passed away at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield on July 16, 2018.

Mary was born and raised in Revere, resided in Revere for 20 years, Everett for several years and Melrose for many years. She worked as a Traffic Supervisor for the City of Melrose for 42 years before her retirement. Mary was a very kind and generous person, always willing to help out others and was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Melrose. Mary loved her two dogs Ming and Coco.

She was the beloved wife of the late William B. Boyden, Jr. for over 56 years. Loving mother of James C. Boyden and his wife Laura of Hampton, N.H., the late William B. Boyden, III and his wife Susan of N.C., the late Michael G. Boyden and his wife Janet of Vt., and the late John Joseph Boyden. Cherished grandmother of Michael Boyden, Stephen Boyden and Kelley Ahrens, all of Vt. Great-grandmother of Evelyn and Glenn. Caring sister of the late Joseph Maloney.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home on Monday, July 30, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose. Interment in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
