Marycroto-webWAKEFIELD — Mary Elizabeth Croto, 98, a lifelong Wakefield resident died Wednesday, Feb. 3 at the Bear Hill Nursing Home.

Born in Wakefield on May 9, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Joseph and Catherine Helena (Gough) Flynn.

Mrs. Croto was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1935 and later a graduate of Michaud’s Secretarial School in Boston. She loved her family and her friends. Her hobbies included reading, embroidery and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

Mrs. Croto was the wife of the late Frederick F. Croto, with whom she spent 56 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Karen M. Olsen and her husband Richard and Betsy F. DelRossi and her late husband George A. DelRossi Jr., all of Wakefield. She was the grandmother of Julie M. Langone and her husband Michael, Amy H. Collura and her husband John, Ryan J. Olsen and his wife Caitlyn, Gregory F. DelRossi and his wife Marie, Gary A. DelRossi and his wife Heather and Glenn W. DelRossi. She was the great-grandmother of Owen, Grace, Joslyn, Connor, Mary, Faith, Gemma, Peter, Evan, Josephine and Logan. She was preceded in death by her brother Daniel J. Flynn Jr. of Reading and great-granddaughter Alexis.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Saturday at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., prior to the Mass beginning at 8:30 a.m.
