Lunch mother at the Lincoln School

Dargan-obit-webMELROSE — Mary E. (Hutchinson) Dargan, 85, of Melrose died at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Dec. 15.

Mary was born in Somerville, raised in Cambridge, resided in Somerville for many years and Melrose for the past 19 years. She was a homemaker and worked as a lunch mother at the Lincoln School in Melrose.

Mary enjoyed dancing, detective shows and was a member of St. Mary Church in Melrose.

She was the beloved wife of the late Michael G. Dargan. She was the loving mother of Darleen Wilkins and her husband Ron of Melrose and the late Kathleen M. Grigas. She was the cherished grandmother of Jimmy, Irene, Kimberly and Rachel. She was the proud great-grandmother of Haylee, Sophia, Aaron, Lilly and Alexander.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose, on Friday, Dec. 18, at 9 a.m. Interment at Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mary’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
