Mary-Laskey-obit-12-12-16-webMELROSE — Mary T. (Aldus) Laskey, of Melrose, died on Feb. 8 at the age of 83.

Mary was born in Boston, raised in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1949. She resided in East Boston until 1952 and Melrose for the past 60 years. Mary was a longtime member of St. Mary Church in Melrose and volunteered at St. Mary rectory and Mystic Valley Elder Services for many years. She summered in Gilford Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee for over 30 years and enjoyed spending her time with her family and many friends.

Mary sold Tupperware for 12 years and also worked for the Wakefield Daily Item newspaper for eight years. Mary loved to play cards, bingo and spend time at Foxwoods and Twin River Casino.

Mary was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late Edward F. Laskey. She was the loving mother of Edward G. Laskey and his wife Elaina of Beverly, Kathleen Baldassari and her husband Thomas of Peabody and Timothy P. Laskey of North Grafton. She was the cherished grandmother of Christopher, Erin and the late Michael Hardy and Gregory and Bryan Laskey. She was the caring sister of the late Francis Aldus, Robert Aldus, Margaret Svendsen and George Aldus. She is also survived by three nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Friday, Feb. 12 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 8 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Herbert Street, Melrose at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
