Longtime resident active at Saint Maria Goretti Church

LYNNFIELD — Mary S. Manning, 91, of Lynnfield died on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Mrs. Manning was born in Medford on May 14, 1924. She was the daughter of the late John and Ippolita Pellegrino.

Mrs. Manning had worked for the Department of the Navy during World War II and attended the Academy of Moderne Finishing School. She was a longtime Lynnfield resident of 58 years, residing in the home she built with her beloved husband, the late Thomas James Manning Jr. She was a member of the Saint Maria Goretti Church, where she was active in many social activities including the Sodality.

Mrs. Manning was the loving mother of Diane Blackmore and her fiancé Russel Amiot of Lynnfield; Thomas Manning III and his wife Maryellen of Lynnfield; James Manning and his wife Laurie of Salisbury and Ann Marie Greenleaf and her husband Steven of Lynnfield. She was the grandmother of Thomas Manning and his fiancée Samantha Ortiz; Charles Manning and his wife Lee; Julie Blackmore and her fiancé Keith O’Neil; Ryan Manning and Emma Greenleaf. She was the great-grandmother of Lillian and Connor. She was the sister of Virginia Burnet. She was predeceased by 10 siblings.

Her funeral was held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday, Oct. 24, followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield. Interment followed at Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield. Visitation for relatives and friends was held at the funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 23.
