Affectionate pet owner grew up in Wakefield

Obit-Gilman_webNORFOLK, Va. — Mary T. (McGrath) Gilman, 77, of Norfolk, Va. passed away on Nov. 20 after a lengthy illness.

She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret (McGarr) McGrath of Wakefield. She is survived by her longtime companion, Anthony “Pat” Felce of Norfolk, Va.; her sons William Gallagher of Overland Park, Kan., Joseph Gallagher of Pepperell, and daughter Erin (Gallagher) and her husband James Apostolos of Alexandria, N.H. She is also survived by granddaughters Kaitlin and Jacalin Gallagher of Taunton.

Mary was born in Melrose on Jan. 22, 1937 and grew up in Wakefield where she attended Nazareth Academy. She worked for many years in electronics, including Transitron and Raytheon. She moved to Norfolk, Va. in 1977 and worked at Albano Cleaners.

Mary loved animals and had fond memories of her pet dogs and cats.

Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Church, Wakefield, on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m.
