MELROSE — A 25 year old Medway woman will be summonsed to court after reportedly driving a vehicle into First Pond off Slayton Road at Mt. Hood Saturday, June 11.

Police went to the scene around 7:45 p.m. where they found the woman shaken and upset after her vehicle allegedly hit concrete barriers and then went into the pond.

The vehicle was towed. She was taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

The woman faces charges of operating to endanger and wanton destruction of property over $250.

The Weekly News does not print the names of people police say they plan to summonse to court.

A woman greeting a friend while both walked their dogs near Chipman Avenue Monday morning, June 6, was treated for dog bite.

Police said the woman were walking their dogs in opposite directions around 8:25 a.m. when they noticed each other as being old friends. When one went to hug the other, the friend’s dog bit her, with the bite bad enough to require a trip to the hospital.

Following are examples of other types of calls answered by police between Monday, June 6, and Sunday, June 12.

MONDAY, JUNE 6

• A Ryder Avenue resident reported being the victim of check fraud around 10:35 a.m.

• More complaints about bogus IRS calls were logged beginning around 1:15 p.m.

• A man was reportedly sleeping in a vehicle parked on Linwood Avenue around 1:20 p.m. Police checked on him and discovered he was a therapist relaxing before seeing a patient.

• A street light was out on Montrose Street around 1:25 p.m.

• Three youths with an injured bird brought the animal to headquarters around 4:50 p.m. They then brought the bird to the Melrose Animal Clinic on Essex Street.

• A 45 year old Windsor Street was charged with operating a vehicle after his license had been suspended and for driving a vehicle with no inspection sticker around 6:20 p.m. at Stone Place and Washington Street.

TUESDAY, JUNE 7

• A group of about 40 youths reportedly fighting near the Wyoming Cemetery in the vicinity of Lebanon and Forest streets at 12:50 a.m. could not be located by police.

• The driver of a truck making a delivery at Melrose High around 6 a.m. was informed that he could not do that until 7 a.m., according to a city ordinance.

• A 44 year old West Emerson Street resident was charged with operating after his license had been revoked and for operating an uninsured motor vehicle around 9:20 a.m. in the 700 block of Main Street.

• A hawk which struck the outside of Marty’s Furniture around 3 p.m was confirmed deceased by police, who contacted the Animal Control office.

• A gray or white chihuahua was seen running around near the Hoover School without a collar at 7:30 p.m. The information was passed along to Animal Control.

• At 8:13 p.m. police went to the Veterans Memorial Middle School and learned that an altercation had occurred involving at least one parent of girls in a dance recital. One of the girls didn’t have the right kind of bow in her hair, police said, and a discussion escalated from there.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8

• A man walking in the Boston Rock Road neighborhood around 5:20 a.m. was sent on his way by police.

• Police continue their investigation of a past larceny reported at Rite Aid at 1:04 p.m. According to police, they were told that at about 9:45 a.m. the previous day, a white man was in the personal hygiene aisle when he was seen putting shaving items in his jacket. Police said about $180 worth of trimmers, razor blades and other grooming devices were missing.

• State Police handled a reported roll over accident on the Lynn Fells Parkway at Holland Road around 2:15 p.m.

THURSDAY, JUNE 9

• A section of Greenwood Street reportedly lost power after a transformer exploded just before 7 a.m.

• A tree limb was reported down on Nelson Road around 2:20 p.m.

• Police received multiple calls about a limb and wires down on Clifford Street around 3:30 p.m. At 3:39 p.m. a tree limb was reported down on Upham Street.

FRIDAY, JUNE 10

• A 31-year-old Hurd Street woman will be summonsed to court for damaging a door window and screen on Cottage Street sometime around 1:30 p.m.

• Credit card fraud was reported on Walton Park around 2:25 p.m.

• A man was reportedly face down in the Winthrop School parking lot around 10:25 p.m.

SATURDAY, JUNE 11

• Police were told of two men checking car doors on Oakland Street around 1:45 a.m.

• Someone called at 8:15 a.m. warning police of a possible scam attempt by people claiming to be “Wounded Servicemen.” A credit card number was requested, but none was given. Police said they had received several complaints.

• Larceny of stolen solar lights was reported in the 200 block of Main Street around 10:25 a.m.

• Kids were reportedly kicking a soccer ball across the Lynn Fells Parkway at Melrose Street around 11:30 a.m.

• A West Wyoming Avenue woman reported that an acquaintance she let stay with her reportedly stole her son’s Playstation 4 console. Police were told of the theft at 12:22 p.m.

• A wire leaning against a tree on Carlida Road around 3:10 p.m. was reportedly sparking. The Fire Department and National Grid were notified.

SUNDAY, JUNE 12

• A tree limb reportedly fell into Lebanon Street around 3:15 p.m.
