MELROSE — Following is a letter from Rebecca Mooney, executive director of the Melrose Alliance Against Violence.

Dear MAAV Friends & Supporters,

It is with mixed emotions that I’m writing to announce that after 25 years as Executive Director of the Melrose Alliance Against Violence, I will be retiring at the end of August. I love this organization with all my heart, but it’s time for a new chapter- with more time for grandchildren, travel, creative arts and relaxation!

I am extremely proud of all that MAAV has accomplished over the past 25 years, including our ever-evolving work to raise awareness, educate youth and assist victims of abuse. As many have said, MAAV is simply part of the fabric of this community. We have also become leaders in prevention on a state and national level. I have been so honored to serve as a leader for this incredible organization and will remain part of the community championing MAAV’s vital mission.

Over the next several months, MAAV’s Board of Directors will conduct a thorough search to find MAAV’s next Executive Director, and we are all committed to making this a smooth transition.

Thank you for the many ways you have supported me and MAAV over the years. I have no doubt that MAAV will continue to serve the community well as the agency changes, grows and thrives in the years to come. I will be here through the summer and will continue to treasure my relationships with all of you.

With gratitude,

Rebecca Mooney

Executive Director
