MELROSE — Melrose Baseball was well represented in the MIAA Middlesex League’s All-Star game played at Ferullo Field in Woburn. Melrose High had Justin McCarthy and Ryan Censullo playing for the Freedom League.

McCarthy pitched three innings and went behind the plate for two more, while Censullo played shortstop for five innings as well.

As the game went along McCarthy and Censullo were able to keep the Freedom League in the game with spectacular plays from Censullo and McCarthy keeping all batters in check with his entire pitching arsenal coming their way.

By the eighth inning Censullo and McCarthy were substituted out for other players with the score 3-2 in favor of the Freedom League. During the last inning the Liberty All-Stars got the best of the closing pitcher from Wilmington and the game ended 10-4.

This game was the last high school game for McCarthy and Censullo and these allstars are off to college, McCarthy to Merrimack and Censullo to URI. As the game came to a close so did their fine high school baseball memories. But for them bigger things are just around the corner.
