MELROSE — The City of Melrose has announced the following that on Monday, April 15, the following municipal buildings and facilities will be closed in observance of Patriots’ Day: City Hall, City Yard, Melrose Public Library and the Milano Center. 

Curbside trash and recycling collection will not be collected on Monday, April 15 resulting in a one-day delay for the remainder of the week.

Mayor welcomes Greater Boston Labor Council to Melrose: For the first time, the Greater Boston Labor Council hosted its Annual Breakfast in Melrose on Thursday, April 11 at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building. Mayor Jen provided opening remarks, stressing the importance of collaboration between local government and labor organizations in striving for a more equitable society. Also in attendance were Mayor of Malden Gary Christensen, Mayor of Medford Breanna Lungo-Koehn of Medford and MA legislators.

Spring 2024 Rain Barrel Purchase Program: Residents can conserve water, save money and help the environment by purchasing discounted rain barrels through the City’s partnership with the Great American Rain Barrel Company. Residents can order rain barrels now through midnight on Sunday, June 2. Pre-purchased barrel(s) will be available for pickup at the City Yard at 72 Tremont St. on June 15 between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. To purchase your rain barrel, visit greatamericanrainbarrel.com/community and select Melrose as your community. DPW resumes curbside collection of yard waste, City Yard Saturday hours: The Department of Public Works resumed curbside collection of yard waste this week. The next collection will occur the week of May 6 and May 10. To follow the curbside collection schedule, visit cityofmelrose.org/2024curbsidecollection. The City Yard at 72 Tremont St. is also open on Saturdays for recycling and yard waste drop-offs between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Call the DPW for more information at 781-665-0142.
