MELROSE—Melrose High School senior Emily Hudson has piled up the awards after a very successful Fall 2 season on the Melrose High volleyball team this spring. The senior captain finished four years on varsity as middle blocker, helping Melrose win the Middlesex Freedom League undefeated at 10-0.

She also helped the Red Raiders reach the ML finals in the league tournament where Melrose ended their season 12-1. This week it was announced that The Boston Herald named Hudson to its coveted All Scholastic list. Hudson was earlier named the Middlesex Freedom Division MVP. On top of that, she was also named to the exclusive Massachusetts Girls Volleyball Coaches Association All-State team, capping off three of the most impressive awards a scholastic athlete can earn. She finished the season second in kills for Melrose.

Her Melrose high coach Scott Celli lauded Hudson for her many years of excellence. “Emily is high character student athlete. She came to every practice and match with a purpose to become a better player, but more importantly, to make her teammates better. We will miss her leadership and dedication to the volleyball program.”

Hudson will continue her volleyball career at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) where she will compete under coach Greg Poole.
