Girls team picks up bronze
MELROSE—Both Melrose High spring outdoor track teams took part in the MSTCA Div. III State Relays held at Oliver Ames High on Sunday, May 1, where they battled among the best in the state in running and fielding events.
Melrose earned plenty of medals, including some great first place, gold-medal performances from athletes such as Scarlet Timm (first in high hump relay) Kate Sikkema (first in javelin throw relay) and Taylor Pesce (first in triple jump relay) along with the girls’ team’s 4×1600 team of Jillian Bakey, Charlotte Tysall, Cadence L’Hereux and Mazie Frakt.
The Melrose girls’ team finished third overall as a team, marking another great day for the squad.
Melrose’s boys team earned some medal thanks to their 4×1600 relay team of Will Dugan, Caleb Barnes, Stone Liu and Ellis lurilli-Hugh who placed 5th among the pack. Teammate Trentyn Hodges medaled in the tripe jump with a fifth place finish.
