MELROSE — As part of Mayor Paul Brodeur’s efforts to keep residents informed, his office has announced that the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s (MBTA) Lynn Fells Parkway Bridge Replacement Project will resume in Melrose on June 7.

The MBTA’s contractor for the Lynn Fells Parkway Bridge Replacement project will resume construction activities starting Tuesday, June 7 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.  The MBTA is anticipating his work to last three months.

The MBTA encourages drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes to minimize delays. Those traveling through the area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. The schedule for this major infrastructure project is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.

The bridge carries Commuter Rail service for the Haverhill Line over Lynn Fells Parkway in Melrose between Melrose Cedar Park and Melrose Highlands. The replacement of the original 1929 steel bridge is a part of the MBTA’s reliability and modernization program.
