MELROSE—The Melrose Middle School Wrestling team enjoyed another strong season in 2019-2020, finishing with a 4-2 dual meet record, and finishing 6th place at the Northeast Regional League Tournament.

Competing at the NER League Tournament were Jack Ruelle, Kerry Jean Mathieu, Boden Dormer (2 wins), Patrick Buggy (2 wins), Charlie Keefe (2 wins), Quinn Fogarty (2 wins), Raymond Kochanski (4th place), Jack Shea (4th place), Marco Albanese (3rd place), and Michael Thomas (2nd place).

The Melrose also sent a number of wrestlers to the Middle School State Sectionals. Competing at Sectionals for Melrose were William Lusas, Boden Dormer, Benny Brinchiero, Albie Brinchiero, Jack Ruelle, Kerry Jean Mathieu, Samuel Nardine, Adam Saragosa, Charlie Keefe (2 wins), Quinn Fogarty (2 wins), and Middle School State Tournament qualifiers Michael Thomas (7th place), Jack Shea (7th place), Raymond Kochanski (5th place), and Marco Albanese (4th place).

The MVMMS team also competed at the Big East Tournament in Boston in February where William Lusas placed 4th, Kerry Jean Mathieu placed 4th, Quinn Fogarty placed 3rd, and Boden Dormer placed 2nd.

Middle School wrestling is offered by the Melrose Recreation Department for students between 5th-8th grades. The season starts the first week after Thanksgiving.
