MELROSE—The Melrose High girls’ swim team continued their league meets last week with a virtual meet against rival Stoneham on Thursday, March 18 at the Melrose YMCA. While Melrose fell 109-61 they saw some improved times and earned plenty of points against a skilled Spartans team.

Melrose showed strength in the 200 yard medley relay and the 400 free relay thanks for the efforts of Milania Saggese, Grace Haseltine, Demya Allen, Courtney Casey (200 relay) and Courtney Casey, Madeline Brodeur, Milania Saggese and Grace Haseltine in the 400 relay.

Melrose’s 200 relay team also had a solid 2nd place finish behind the work of Demya Allen, Emilia Rahilly, Noelle L’Heureux and Madeleine Brodeur.

In individual races, Madeleine Brodeur prevailed in the 500 free with an outstanding swim and a time of 7:00. She also looked sharp in the 200 free with a third place finish. Demya Allen placed second in the 100 fly. Milania Saggese placed second in the 100 back. And Melrose swept the top two spots in the 200 IM behind the work of winner Emily Rahilly and right behind her, Milania Saggese.
