Enjoyed mountain biking and hiking
Dedicated husband, loving father, senior architect and adventurer Pedro Fagundo passed unexpectedly on Sunday, September 29 at Lahey Medical Center in Burlington. He was only 50.
Born in Boston on January 26, 1974, Pedro was a loving son of Elsa and the late Angel Fagundo. A Brookline native, Pedro graduated from Brookline High School, Class of 1992 and received his Bachelor’s of Architecture Degree in 2002. With his deep drive and intelligence, Pedro excelled as an architect and gained diverse experience working in Boston with Safdie Architects and Elkus Manfredi. While on an adventure in Peru, Pedro proposed to Melissa Laron and they married in 2006 in Key Largo, FL.
With a job opportunity at Pfeiffer Partners in New York City, Pedro and Melissa relocated and were blessed with the birth of sons Owen and Alexander. Pedro continued his successful career, attained architecture certifications AIA, LEED AP and received recognition with his work on Performing Arts Centers. With a desire to be around family, Pedro, Melissa and sons returned to the Boston area where Pedro started work at AECOM in 2014. Pedro was a well-respected, organized and very hard working Senior Project Architect and became an integral part of the team at DREAM Collaborative in Boston in 2022.
In addition to his love for his work, Pedro was unwavering in his dedication to wife Melissa and two sons Owen and Alexander. His love for them was boundless, filled with patience and sustained them with resiliency. Always up for an adventure, Pedro and Melissa grew stronger together while hiking the Inca trail, visits to Israel, Spain, France, Italy, Costa Rica and vacations to see family in Florida and California. Inspiring the next adventures in his sons, Pedro began backyard camping with Owen and Alexander and soon were camping as a family across New England. He treasured moments together with Melissa and the boys playing soccer in the yard, rock climbing year round, yard work and growing herbs with Owen and many games recently of ping pong with Alexander.
With an architect’s mind and skilled hands, Pedro could fix anything and designed and built numerous projects for family and friends. He was a regular parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church in Malden and remained spiritual throughout his life. He valued staying physically fit, enjoyed mountain biking and exercised regularly with frequent hikes through the Fells. In his younger years, he enjoyed rugby, motocross and once mountain biked to Canada with a friend.
Pedro was a kind, funny, strong, playful husband and father with a trademark laugh that brought joy (and more laughter) to everyone around him. He took special care of his mother and cared deeply for his siblings. Pedro’s unwavering love and spirit will continue in the hearts and minds of his family and his impact will carry on in future adventures that he so inspired. May he rest in peace.
Pedro was predeceased by his father Angel Fagundo and his beloved nephew Benjamin Fagundo. Pedro was the loving husband and best friend to Melissa B. (Laron) Fagundo with whom he shared 18 years of marriage. Beloved father of Owen Fagundo and Alexander Fagundo. Cherished son of Elsa I. (Apolinares) Fagundo of Brookline and the late Angel Fagundo. Loving brother of Alberto Fagundo and his wife Alma of Kissimmee of FL; Ruben Fagundo of Swansea; Angel Fagundo and his wife Milena of Swampscott; Arturo Fagundo and his wife Yolanda of Seattle, WA; and former brother-in-law of Carlota Fagundo of Woonsocket, RI. Dear son-in-law of Peg Laron of Key Largo, FL and Itzik Laron and his partner Joanne Prlich of San Anselmo, CA; and brother-in-law of Jonathan Laron and his wife Jo of Key Largo, FL.
