PEABODY — Bernard  (Bernie) R. Danti, 87, of Peabody, peacefully passed on October 4, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 25, 1929 in Springfield, to the late Amando and Evelyn Danti.

He was a Korean War Army Veteran, accomplished machine design and build engineer, business owner, and family man. He enrolled in a mechanical engineering program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute after returning from Korea where he excelled in his studies, and made lifelong friends, graduating in 1956. He pursued a fulfilling career with companies such as Ford Motor Company, Pneumatic Scale, Polaroid, Millipore, and his own business.

He enjoyed many activities such as playing his banjo, and as a member of the Lexington Golf Club for 30 years, and Captains’ Golf Club in Brewster during his retirement years. His true love was being with his family and friends, and engaging everyone with whom he came in contact.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Connie; sister Carol Johnson, daughters Susan Landry, Jean Sabatini, and Alicia Vesprini, son Greg Danti, sons-in-law Scott Landry, Joseph Sabatini, and Michael Vesprini, grandchildren Jonathan Landry and his wife Kara, Heather Drexler and her husband Zach, Marcus Vesprini, Michelina Vesprini, Joseph Sabatini, great grandson Conor Landry, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Russell Danti. His brother, Larry Danti, passed away on October 13, 2017.

Visiting hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m., on Friday, November 3, at Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster Street, Melrose, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
