Charles was born in South Boston on September 21, 1939 to the late John Francis and Helen M. (Keating) Bennett. Charles grew up as one of eight children in South Boston and Roslindale graduating from Roslindale High and then earning a B.S. in Business from Suffolk University class of 1963.
