MELROSE — Dorothea (Mitchell) Green, 89, passed away at the Arbors Assisted Living in Stoneham on March 27, 2019.

Mrs. Green was born in Boston, raised in South Boston and graduated from South Boston High School. She was a dedicated and loving mother and homemaker and also worked as a bookkeeper at her husband’s business, Middlesex Steel in Melrose for over 12 years. Dorothea had a passion for life with love of dancing, traveling, spending time with family and enjoying seafood feasts, especially lobster. Mrs. Green had a quick wit, an infectious smile and will be missed for her kind and compassionate spirit.

Dorothea was the beloved mother of Geoffrey A. Green of Melrose, Jonathan L. Green of Vt., Douglas H. Green of Conn. and Georgiana D. Green of Calif. Loving sister of Elaine Katz of Bedford. Cherished grandmother of Alexander, Ethan, Conan, Keenan, Kady and Skylar. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday, March 29. Funeral procession from Gately Funeral Home was on Saturday morning, March 30, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St. Melrose.
