Worked at Raytheon as an engineer who was known for his dry wit

MELROSE — George L. Fix of Melrose died peacefully on January 8, 2022, at the Stella Maris Hospice in Baltimore, Maryland.

Born on October 19, 1950, in Syracuse, N.Y., George was the son of the late Lloyd and Jeanne Fix and the youngest of his siblings, Linda Barbato (Richard) of Fairport, N.Y. and Lloyd Fix Jr. (Susan) of Syracuse. George was proud of his Syracuse roots and was often seen sporting the orange attire of his Alma Mater, Syracuse University.

George is survived by his adult children, Jared Fix (Emily) of San Francisco, Calif. and Shenan Russel of Towson, Md.; his five grandchildren: Eliane, Isla, and Myles Russel, Zoe and Lucie Fix; as well as his longtime partner, Anne Anagnos. George worked at Raytheon as an engineer for almost 40 years before medically retiring. He excelled and relished in solving problems, making his position and long tenure at Raytheon, a perfect match for both. He loved handy work and was often found in his workshop building furniture, rebuilding a transmission, or working on a similar project. He was known for his dry wit and unconventional wisdom. He will be missed greatly by many, but especially by his family.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held in June in Massachusetts. For obituary and to sign online condolence visit www.gatelyfh.com.
