Affectionately known as ‘Mr. C’ at the Ripley School

MELROSE – George T. Currier, 86, of Melrose, formally of East Boston, passed away at Oostermans Rest Home on August 29, 2019.
George was born on July 17, 1933 to the late John Currier and Eileen Thomas. He was raised in East Boston. Mr. Currier, affectionately known as “Mr. C,” was a custodian at the Ripley School for 28 years and was loved by all who knew him.
He was the best friend and devoted husband of 53 years to the late Joyce (LaMarca) Currier. He was the loving brother-in-law to the late Dorothy (LaMarca) Huber and her husband Randy of Melrose and the late Gaetano “Tom” LaMarca and his wife Lynne of Melrose. He is survived by his son Gio and his wife Rachel, and his grandson Luca; Chris LaMarca and his wife Satu of Mansfield, Laura (LaMarca) Moscoso and her husband Geovanni of Swampscott, Kimberly (LaMarca) Hosford and Stephen LaMarca both of Haverhill. Also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews of all whom he loved dearly.
A funeral Mass in celebration of George’s life will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Herbert St. Melrose, on Monday, September 9 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s name to Oostermans Rest Home 93 Laurel St. Melrose, MA 02176.
