MALDEN — Hazel M. (Amirault) Martel, 92, of Malden, formerly a 42 year resident of Melrose, passed away on June 13, 2018.
Hazel was born in Malden on June 12, 1926 to Deremie and Annie (LeBlanc) Amirault. She was raised in Malden and graduated from the Cheverus High School. Hazel worked as a machinist at Spirit Inc. in Wakefield for over 25 years, was a member of the Ladies Auxillary at the VFW Harold O’Young Post #2394, and was a big supporter of the Shriners. She was an amazing baker and an excellent cook. Hazel would travel to wherever her family was, traveling to Germany, Georgia, Florida and all over New Hampshire. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
She was the beloved wife of the late Bruno P. Martel. Loving mother of Paula Smith and her husband Michael of Wareham. Caring grandmother of Jarett Robinson, Melinda Thorpe and her husband Oliver, Robert Smith and Michael Smith. Cherished great-grandmother of Samantha, Ashley, and Wyatt Wetherbee, Owen Robinson and Ty Smith. Proud great-great-grandmother of Bruno.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, June 20, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Hearts Church, 415 Main St. Malden. Burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives and friends were invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Hazel’s name to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104 or to Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
