A loving wife and mother who loved to travel

AMESBURY — Janice “Jan” Grace Reddington of Amesbury, formerly of Melrose, passed away on February 14, 2022 at her home with her loving husband by her side. Jan was born in Malden on June 26, 1950 to the late Warren and Grace (Judge) Pike. Jan grew up in Melrose, graduating from Melrose High School in 1968. Jan spent three decades serving patrons at the legendary Hilltop Steak House in Saugus. Never afraid of a hard day’s work, Jan loved her customers and they loved her back. She developed a following of customers that would wait for one of her tables so they could share her company while they enjoyed their meal.

Jan loved “her boys” and doted on her 10 grandchildren but the love she shared with her husband Jack was incomparable. Whether it was enjoying one of their many cruises, flying off to Las Vegas, or spending time together at the Elks, they shared an unbreakable bond that was obvious to anyone that was fortunate to be around them during their 35 years of marriage. Their most special time spent together was at Treasure Island on Square Pond in Shapleigh, Maine, which was their sanctuary and their happy place.

Jan is survived by her husband John “Jack” Reddington III; her sons Ed Wildman and his, wife, Jalene of Saugus; Eric Wildman and his wife, Robin, of Melrose; her step-sons John “Jack” Reddington IV and his partner, Brenda, of North Attleboro; Jeff Reddington and his wife, Gina, of Westford and Shawn Reddington and his wife, Kerry, of North Reading. Her grandchildren Kaitlyn, Brady, Andrew, Samantha, Catherine, Emma Christine, Noah, Sophia, Emma Margaret and Tessa; and her great-granddaughters Evelyn and Margaret. Jan is also survived by her sister Carol Lederman of Winthrop and her brothers John Pike of Melrose and James Pike of Hong Kong.

Services will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Reddington’s family with her arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jan’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at stjude.org.
