MELROSE — Mrs. Joanna (Moretti) Rossetti, 73, a resident of Melrose and formerly of the North End, passed away peacefully at Melrose Health Care Center on Saturday, March 10, 2018.

Joanna was born in Boston, one of two children of the late Raffaela (Faugno) and Gennaro Moretti. She was raised in the North End of Boston where she attended St. Mary’s School, and graduated from Julie Billiart School. Joanna worked for Boston University as Administrative Assistant to the Comptroller for over 20 years. She was married on April 28, 1973 to Peter A. Rossetti and they settled in Melrose where they lived for 25 years.

Throughout her life, Joanna put the needs of her family before her own. As a young woman, she centered her life around taking care of her parents when her parents were in need. After the passing of her mother and father, she was the responsible caretaker to her younger brother, Gerald. A woman with simple needs, Joanna always put others first.

Joanna was a kind, and attentive wife to Peter. They enjoyed many years together visiting their property in Greenville, Maine on Moosehead Lake during the summer. She and Peter owned the log cabin for over 30 years and appreciated their time spent relaxing at the lake.

In her free time, Joanna found joy in spending time with her family, or returning to her roots in the North End to see family and friends. A woman of faith, she regularly attended St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston. She also enjoyed cooking or going to downtown Boston for shopping.

Joanna was a supportive and positive woman who made a great impact on her family. She will be missed.

Joanna was the beloved wife of Peter A. Rossetti with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. Dear sister of Gerald J. Moretti and his wife Sheila of the North End, and sister-in-law of Paul E. Rossetti of Rockland. Cherished aunt of Jeffrey Moretti and his wife Krisinda of Saugus, and Gennaro Moretti and his wife Cara of Lynnfield. Loving great-aunt of Isabella, Vittoria, Giulia, and William.

Relatives and friends gathered in honor of Joanna’s life at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, March 15, before leaving in procession to St. Anthony’s Church, 250 Revere St., Revere for her funeral Mass.
