MELROSE — John H. Davidson, 91, longtime Melrose resident, died on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Winchester Hospital.
John was born in Swampscott on August 10, 1926, the son of Andrew S. and Ethel Louise (Harlow) Davidson. He graduated from Swampscott High School, got his undergraduate degree from Suffolk University, and received his masters degree from Boston University.
John would later meet the love of his life in Swampscott, Patricia Jean Clinch, and would go on to enjoy 37 wonderful years of marriage.
John worked at Walter Fernald State School as a clinical psychologist where he developed his own teaching machines and organized innovative therapy groups. He truly enjoyed his work there and the individuals he was able to help.
John’s true joys in life were his family and friends. John had an appreciation for the Saco River, and looked forward to taking family and friends camping, kayaking, and canoeing there. Skiing was another favorite pastime for John, and he was a proud member of the 80+ Ski Club.
John had a passion for photography, especially film photography. Many long hours were spent in his darkroom developing the numerous photographs he took of family, friends, and his adventures.
John is the beloved husband of the late Patricia J. Davidson. Devoted Father of Carolyn Bristol and her husband Arthur of Connecticut, Joanne Blades of Rowley, and Barbara Garcia and her husband Manny of Malden. Cherished grandfather of Jessica Eurto and her husband James, John Bristol, Danielle Margeson, Jason Blades, Stephanie Blades, and Jerry Garcia. Adored great-grandfather of Oliver Margeson.
