A lover of life who worked hard and smiled often
MELROSE John E. Lyons, 68, of Melrose, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2021 after a long illness. He was born on July 14, 1953.

Born to his loving mother Maureen (Reidy) Lyons and to John Adams, and raised in Woburn by Maureen and Thomas P. Lyons. He also spent many years living in Lexington and Melrose, with frequent trips to his special place on Cape Neddick in York, ME.

John was a great lover of life, famed for the twinkle in his blue eyes. He worked hard and played hard, smiled often, and rarely let a day pass without some event or accomplishment. Professionally, he was the owner of Delmont Construction Services, and oversaw the building of many public schools across the region. Personally, John was an excellent athlete and competitor, outdoorsman, avid Boston sports fan, loving Poppa and one who made every room he was in a happier place.

John is survived and endlessly loved by his longtime partner JoyceMarie Lawless, of Melrose; his daughter Corey Marsden and grandchildren Marley and Payton; his son Eric Adams (Elizabeth Adams); Megan and Emily Lawless; his many brothers and sisters, Patricia Lyons (Dorothy Baxter), Thomas Lyons (Beth Lyons), Peter Lyons (Michael Finkenbine), Roxanne Parlet, Paul Adams; and predeceased Michael Lyons, Julie Muscella, and James Adams; his cousins, nieces and nephews, his lifelong friends from Woburn, and so many other friends and teammates.

Private services will be held in York, ME. Memorial contributions in his honor can be made to Caring for a Cure at Mass General Hospital, or to the Michael Burke Foundation. To send a message of condolence please visit www.gatelyfh.com.
