MELROSE — John Paul Napolitano, 71, died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on April 15, 2019.
John was born in Boston on February, 17, 1948. He was raised in Charlestown, attended Charlestown schools and lived in Charlestown for many years. Mr. Napolitano moved to Las Vegas where he worked as a top notch chef at the Binion’s Casino in the old town section of Vegas in the rooftop restaurant for 15 years and then as a bartender for 10 years. He also worked as a bartender in North Station in Boston for many years. After returning to Massachusetts he lived with his mother in Charlestown until she passed away. John Paul then moved to Melrose seven years ago.
He loved the ocean, the beach and spending time at the lake in Wakefield. But most of all he loved spending time with his Godson Khoury at his cottage on Province Lake in Wakefield, N.H., boating and fishing. He often would kid around with Khoury and say “ let’s take the boat to Maine” because some of Province Lake was actually in Maine. John Paul also spent a lot of time with Rosemarie Nevano and her family during the holidays, at cookouts and family gatherings.
John was the loving son of the late Ruth (McCann) Napolitano and stepson of Anthony. Beloved godfather of Khoury Passamonti. Caring brother of Alfred Napolitano and his wife Donna. Cousin of Donna Brietzke and longtime friend of Rosemarie Nevano. Loving uncle of Janine and Mark Roberge, Gregory and Brenda Nevano and great uncle of Antonio Nevano. Also survived by numerous cousins, family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, April 25 from 4-7 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923. To send a message of condolence please visit www.gatelyfh.com
