MELROSE — Lorraine M. (Belhumeur) Levasseur, 88, of Melrose, died peacefully on July 16, 2019.

She was born in Somerville on October 26, 1930 to Carl and Lavina (Clarkin) Belhumeur.

There was never a dull moment in the life of Lorraine Levasseur, known to many as Nanie. A lot of people would not realize how funny she actually was and the smiles she would put on our faces each day. Lorraine loved to sit and talk with you, asking about your day and making sure we knew how much she appreciated and loved us.

She enjoyed her tea with “just milk no sugar because she was sweet enough” and her sweets from Lyndells pastry in Somerville. She loved being a part of her grandchildren’s lives whether it was sitting in an ice rink or playing with babydolls. We will never forget those blue eyes she had or the smile that would light up a room. Rest in the easiest peace Nanie, We love you more.

Lorraine was the wife of Chanel Levasseur. Mother of Cheri Porcello and her husband Steven, R. Thomas Belhumeur and his wife Cynthia, and the late Michael Williams. Stepmother of Larry Levasseur , June Levasseur, Robert Levasseur, Pat Levasseur, and Bernie Levasseur. Grandmother of Breana, Cody, Addison, Christopher, Thomas, and Cate. Great-grandmother of Evelyn and Aidan. Step-grandmother of Joey, Rachel, and Gordie. Sister of Dorothy Connolly.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 30 from 5-7 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lorraine’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
