CHOCORUA, N.H. — Marilyn A. McComas, 71, of Chocorua, N.H. and former longtime resident of Melrose, died on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at her home.
Born in Stoneham on May 16, 1948, Marilyn is one of four children of the late Walter F. and E. Olive (Thorp) Liebermann. She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School. She attended a couple years of design school, and always had a passion for design and fashion throughout her life. She later became a substitute teacher at Melrose Middle School.
Marilyn met and later married Francis A. McComas, and they raised their daughter in Melrose.
An arts and crafts person at heart, Marilyn loved to sew, quilt, crochet, knit, and embroider. She was a talented artist, and enjoyed painting and drawing, with some of her work still hanging proudly in her home. She also was an avid reader.
A woman with strong faith, Marilyn was devoted to the First Congregational Church in Melrose. She served in the Circle 12, and the lady’s group she was in kindly maintained contact with her though the years, which meant a lot. She was also a Girl Scout Leader.
She enjoyed spending time with her mother and sister on Cape Cod.
Marilyn is the beloved wife of the late Francis A. McComas with whom she shared 25 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Katherine E. MacDonald and her husband Daniel of Chocorua, N.H. Dear sister of Janet Pano and her husband Bob, Eva Liebermann and her significant other Greg, and Walter Liebermann and his wife Pam. Cherished grandmother of Emma-Rose Gallant and Daniel C. MacDonald, Jr.
Relatives and friends gathered in honor of Marilyn’s life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Thursday, Nov. 14, followed by her funeral service. Interment was at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
